“From the moment we drove on to the property it felt like home and it still does. A cottage that’s the best layout we’ve found, the marvelous Edythe Dyer Library, walking trails through soaring pines, eating dinner with a breathtaking view of the Penobscot, and eagles overhead. Incredible! Avalon!”

s the Bangor region’s first full service retirement community, Avalon Village offers its residents a full menu of amenities to provide a carefree lifestyle without the worries of home maintenance.

At Avalon Village, not only do residents enjoy spacious, quality cottages where they can enjoy life to the fullest, but there are no worries if anything should happen. A reserve is built into monthly fees so that when a major appliance needs replacing, the roof needs reshingling, the furnace goes out, etc. … repairs and replacements are covered. Anytime there is a need for assistance with any kind of maintenance issue, the staff at Avalon Village is ready to respond, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

In addition to services that are covered by monthly fees, Avalon also offers catered services for every day needs. If a resident needs to be away for a while, staff can make sure that pets receive needed attention. From pet care, delivering groceries, hanging curtains, helping to make arrangements for private gatherings at the Manor House, the list goes on – when a helping hand is needed, help is available at reasonable rates.

During the warmer months, our maintenance staff is busy keeping lawns neatly mown, bushes and shrubs trimmed, decks washed, and cottage trim painted, among other items on their “to do” lists. When Old Man Winter strikes, the plows and shovels come out and driveways and walkways are cleared and sanded, roads are plowed, and ice is removed. Residents can sit from the comfort of their home and watch, without the care of scheduling or feeling guilty.

Access to services is available for a wide range of needs. Avalon’s management staff and residents are deeply networked to the community, whether one needs help finding a doctor, a banker, an attorney, or just figuring out how to connect a new computer to the internet, we have all the connections you need, and they are all close by. Flu shot clinics are offered on site, and forums with topics of wide interest are frequently held. At Avalon Village, residents have ease of access to whatever services they need to make their lives more enjoyable and informed.

Avalon Village is proud to be part of Hampden, a lovely small town where folks get to know each other to the extent they wish. From the local grocer, pharmacist, banker, and mechanic, people care about each other and Hampden provides a secure, welcoming feeling that makes it a special community in which to live and work (and retire!). With its close proximity to neighboring Bangor, a major commercial center that has retained its small town feel while enjoying all the amenities of a major city (an international airport, university, major medical center, shopping centers, and vibrant cultural life are among its many attributes), residents at Avalon Village enjoy the best of all that eastern Maine has to offer!
